May I suggest that everybody have a good read of Ian M Banks' "Feersum
Endjin" as a prophylactic against this over enthusiastic embracing of
the mobile. And a look at this week's issue of New Scientist wouldn't be
a bad idea either.
As for multiple identities (in the one body) remember that it is the
body in which we exist as well as the world and we have been, are and
always will be, relationally defined and thus multiple entities. Has
no-one ever noticed that they adapt themselves to their social group
(culture) in quite different ways, depending on where they are and who
is in the proximal culture, freely and all the time? To paraphrase the
"ancient sages", the self is like a river, always flowing, constantly
changing and yet always the same.
Identity, like the universe is always in a state of super-position. It
used to be the aim of those who sought enlightenment that they should
become "one" with the ... (insert your own version)
